A strike team of seasoned sailors that shares alternately the joy of sailing you aboard the Rose of Java and passing on their passion for the ocean and Polynesia. Philippe Monnet and Audrey Gilles will take you on a safe and adventurous voyage, with their extensive knowledge of the islands.
Philippe Monnet
A child of the mountains, I was born in the mountains of Haute-Savoie. When my family moved to Cannes at the age of sixteen, I developed a passion for sailing. I competed in a variety of sporting disciplines, including freestyle skiing, horse-riding, sailing and car rallies. Discreet and competent, I hold a bunch of records that makes me a more than accomplished man of the sea.
A pioneer of maritime routes and a record-holder in solo sailing, I have logged 250,000NM in solo and crewed races on all the world's oceans.
My proficiency also includes stable management, communications, writing and consulting in various disciplines and environments.
I'm the proud owner of Rose of Java and with my ever-present sense of humour, whose watchword is having fun, that obviously requires a certain amount of hard work, gives guaranteed results!
Audrey Gilles
French, born in Germany, I grew up in Luxembourg. Inspired by outdoor sports, I first came into the mountains of Austria, where I competed in several snowboard championships with success. At once, passionate of the ocean, since childhood, I have sailed every year with my parents on cruises, races and participated on several regattas in yachting clubs around the globe.
A nomad at heart, spontaneous and curious by nature, I have lived and travelled all over the world, meeting people and cultures.
10 years ago, I decided to make a living of my passion. As a delivery skipper, I cross the oceans in a personal quest to discover new places. Along the way, I met Philippe Monnet, the Rose of Java and Polynesia, all of which amazed me. Today, I would like to share this beautiful combination with you!
I am a mix of adrenaline fan and tranquillity fervent for extreme sports such as surfing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, snowboarding, scuba diving, spearfishing and sailing of course! Likewise, I like the peace of farniente, yoga and cooking.
I am fluent in five languages that is French, German, Luxembourgish, English and Spanish.
